Meet the brand: IB Laursen

Meet the brand: IB Laursen

Danish brand, IB Laursen, is in its 51st year and is now one of Scandinavia's largest suppliers of home and garden accessories.

Husband and wife, Ib and Tove Laursen, started in 1971 by buying a furniture business in Ribe, Denmark's oldest town. In their hands, the business quickly expanded to a handful more shops, including an old-fashioned, wood-panelled hawker shop where they sold fresh ground coffee, candles and home accessories.

In 1980, they broke the mould in Denmark and started importing decorative items from Asia. Later that decade, the pair sold their individual stores in order to fully focus on the wholesale side of the business which continues today. Here at Lisa Valentine, we're a proud UK stockist of the IB Laursen brand.

IB Laursen has sourced products from large parts of the world including India, China, Portugal, the Americas and Europe. They also designs their own products in-house, inspired by traditional Nordic influences, Danish flora and fauna, and anything that catches the designers' eyes at trade fairs, flea markets and more.

What I love about the brand is the attention to detail and the fact that the aesthetic is so warm and inviting. Pieces are reassuringly tactile, inspired by nature and designed to be used and enjoyed every day.
